Life insurance

Coverage with a health condition.

Most people who assume they will be declined are approved. Different carriers rate the same condition differently, and guaranteed issue exists for the rest. Here is how each condition is actually handled.

Three outcomes

What the health questions decide

  • Level. Full coverage from day one. The best rate. Most applicants land here.
  • Graded. A partial benefit for natural causes in the first two years, full benefit after. Accidental death is paid in full from the start.
  • Guaranteed issue. No health questions, acceptance within the age range, two-year waiting period for natural causes with premiums returned plus interest if death occurs during it.

Two rules we follow

  1. We quote the carrier most likely to approve you at level rates first. A decline at one carrier is a reason to try another, not a verdict.
  2. We tell you which plan you are getting before you buy it. If it is graded or guaranteed issue, you hear the waiting period in plain words on the call.
